January 13, 2022
Hello alumni!
I wanted to make sure you all had the details on the ALERT
reunion taking place this month. We are celebrating ALERT’s 28 year anniversary
January 28-30, 2022, and I wanted to highlight a couple of things about the reunion
for you all.
The theme of the reunion this year is Forged by Fire, and our
keynote speaker is Captain Clay Rowland, Commanding Officer of
Basic Training Units 12-25. Captain Rowland has had a lasting impact on the
ALERT program, and we are really excited to welcome him back after all these
years. We will be live streaming and recording his session, as well as the
other reunion sessions, so if you can't make it in person you'll still be able to hear what he has to say.
Second, as many of you know, Colonel Marv Behr stepped down
as ALERT Commanding Officer in September of last year, and we will have his official retirement party on the Saturday evening of the reunion. Colonel Behr has been with ALERT
since the year 2000, and has been Commanding Officer since 2016. The party will
have a distinct “Colonel Behr” flavor, so it should be a great time. We are
also going to be giving him a scrapbook with notes from all the guys, so if you
can’t make it here and want to send a note to be included in the book, you can
send them to me directly at 1 Academy Blvd, Big Sandy, TX 75755. Make sure they are on a 3x5 card, one sided, and I
will get them added to the book.
Finally, if you register for the reunion by today, Thursday, January 13, you will
get a free unit shirt from your unit when you arrive. After today I cannot
guarantee that the shirt will arrive by the reunion, so make sure to register by end of day today. To register, or to check out the schedule and attendee list, visit
the reunion website. If you can’t make the reunion,
but still would like a unit shirt, please reach out to me and I’ll see if I can
get you one.
We are always excited to see our alumni and get a chance to
reconnect. If you are ever in the area, please stop by and say hello. Shoot me an email and let me know you are coming, and I'll work out logistics with you. And as
always, let us know how we can be praying for you and your families.
Hope to see you all here for the reunion!
