Recent mergers in local hospitals made it impossible to obtain contractual agreements for clinicals necessitating us to shift to an online EMT program with an agency out of Dallas. The situation was not ideal but we praise God for the four men who took the course and finished well despite the challenges along the way. Our plan is to return to a traditional class setting in January of 2019, but the online option with tutoring on campus will remain a backup plan if there is not a sufficient number of men to justify a full time teacher.
Our Mobile Response Team led by Capt. Phillip Vanderford has spent considerable time the last few weeks promoting ALERT at area homeschools conventions in Arlington and the Woodlands. This week they are traveling to Virginia for a presence at the HEAV Convention in Richmond. Pray for their safety and a good response at the recruiting table. Please continue to be in prayer regarding our overall recruiting efforts and the benefits of the ALERT program. I thought it was significant that a majority of our grads alluded to the powerful impact and influence of Godly camaraderie as being an important part of one’s experience here.
Two more things: Mark your calendars for the ALERT 25 year reunion that will take place in Big Sandy the weekend of February 8-10, 2019. More details to come. We are also seriously considering a second gathering in the Northwood’s in the summer of 2019 for our “old-school” guys and families. We want this weekend to have a great spiritual impact along with fellowship and memories.
Secondly, September 14-16 will be our second ALERT alumni gathering for the Conquer Series training – powerful material related to gaining freedom from the devastating effects of pornography. The retreat will be held in Waynesburg, PA - an hour south of Pittsburg. Please seriously consider attending. This training is not only valuable for you, but is an excellent resource for you to take back to your church to help others.
Finally, prayer requests: Pray for the Dylan Fleshman family. Dylan lost his wife in a vehicle accident and is left alone to care for their young child. His wife Dianna was the sister of Dustin (Unit 40) and Dillon Dornink (Unit 44). Have a great summer and God’s blessings on you all.
