Assess the effectiveness of your Daily Management Dashboard You do have a Dashboard to tell you how things are going daily, don't you? If you do, then assess how effective your dashboard is by answering the following questions. If you don't have a dashboard yet, then these questions can get you started: How do you measure the QUALITY of your products and/or services? This metric will help you increase customer satisfaction. How do you measure COSTS? In other words, how much does it cost to produce and deliver quality products and/or services? How do you measure RESPONSIVENESS? In other words, are your quality products and services delivered on time every time? Also, how responsive is your team to customer complaints and queries? This metric will help you increase customer satisfaction. How do you measure HEALTH, SAFETY and ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT? Are your staff staying healthy and safe? How is your team doing on the key metrics regarding environmental impact? How do you measure your performance regarding DIVERSITY, EQUITY and INCLUSION (DEI)?
These are the essential metrics that you need to track and take corrective action upon if you wish to master Daily Management. You might also want to add some additional metrics, such as the progress concerning Strategic Initiatives. But don't overdo it. Too many metrics can create confusion around priorities.
One more question: Do you practice visible management? In other words, how visible is your dashboard to your team, your manager, and others? Best practice indicates that a dashboard on a wall, near where people congregate, is far better than on their computers or devices! |
