What is the group bourdon test?
Group Bourdon is a type of psychometric test used for selecting trainee train driver candidates with good concentration skills.
The test was original used in Holland as a clinical assessment for recovering stroke patients.
In 1994, British Rail adopted it and started using it for assessing the concentration levels of trainee driver applicants. Tests were either performed on a computer or on paper. However, in 2009, a committee responsible for the driver selection tests deem the computerised version as ineffective tool for measuring attention. So it was discontinued.
However, the paper version continues to be used to the industry. It is basically about searching a group of 4 dots among a group of 3 and 5 dots.
