There is plenty of talk about legal status correction these days. Jurisdiction is everything in law. The most famous words ever spoken about jurisdiction came from Jesus when he said: 'Give unto Caesar what is Caesar's'.
So that exhortation raises a few questions: "What exactly is Caesar's? "How far does Caesar's jurisdiction reach?" Are 'You' one of 'his'?
There are various approaches to this subject being offered by different groups. I had a 'Do it yourself' approach back in the 90's when I started educating myself on such matters.
Most approaches relate to making certain declarations and making that public record which is a good start. But many of the people I talk to think that this is some sort of magic "get out of jail free card" and you won't be bothered once you file your papers. This is the farthest thing from the truth. In fact, it could actually put a target on your back if you've not done the job completely and properly and even then there are no guarantees.
