I'd like to give you a quick, but very important update on the direction of our member volunteer committees.
First of all, this is critical work that needs to be done and which will benefit us all in ways that are hard to measure. If you have any doubts about this see the video, just newly posted in the Base Camp page of the members area which discusses 'The Vision' of the Law Club. We've just updated this page by the way. New changes coming.
Secondly, without getting into commentary or the detailed 'whys' and 'wherefores', our initial attempt at getting these committees organized did not get the desired result. We're starting fresh. We're wiping the slate clean and starting over again from the beginning.
What does this mean? It means that if you volunteered previously for 'x' committee and were on the list, you are no longer. This might be a relief to some of you! There are no committees, no member lists, no chairpersons. But don't worry.
If you wish to remain in the same activity, it's no problem. We're asking everyone who has previously volunteered, to volunteer again.
This time around, you and I are going to have a personal discussion about what to expect. I'd like to evaluate and assess what you are able to do and how you'd like to contribute and with that, I'll match your personal strengths and availability where it will do us the most good, based on the priorities which the majority of our members have.
We have a lot of members with serious personal needs for help and direction and we need to address those ASAP. This is the intention and purpose of this exercise.
You have knowledge and experience doing something. We're not looking for experts. But you can look things up on the internet. You can type. You can take notes at a meeting and write them up. You can listen to audio and write down what you hear. You can make contact with other people to help us form relationships. There's a lot that people can do to help which does not require 'expertise' so don't get the wrong idea.
We need helping hands to organize information and bring it to our members in a digestible format. It's far too much for any single person to do. But if we all contribute 'a little', it can add up to 'a lot'! They key is getting organized and being able to function as a well oiled machine. Each small part in the engine, often has no relation to the other parts, but each one performs a critical function that makes the engine work overall and that engine is what will get us to our destination.
Remember, we are a 'Club', not an entertainment service. Each of us has something to contribute and when we do, 'Magic' can happen.
So, if you have volunteered before, even if it was this week, please do so again using this revised form we've set up for you.
If you haven't volunteered previously, give it some thought. We're only asking 2 hours a week. That's it!
Thanks in advance for yours thoughts and consideration!
We are on the path to greatness and I'm glad you're with us!
Mark
