Hi Friend and a very special Happy New Year greeting to you!
I don't know about you, but I'm feeling very 'effervescent' bubbling over with enthusiasm and excitement for what's going to unfold for us in this new year! We learned a lot last year and we're going to use that as a platform to launch us to greater heights in the days to come. I hope you stay on top of things and keep up with us.
As you should know by now, the law club was created as a vehicle in which all members can roll up their sleeves, get to work, contribute and leverage our combined energy into achieving some astounding results.
What kind of results did you get last year? Wait! Don't answer that. I already have a pretty good idea. Do you want to know why your results were likely 'lukewarm' at best? I'll tell you exactly why...Read the preceding paragraph again for the answer.
So here's how we're going to re-channel our energy to get more results this year;
If you've read my book, you know that in the law club I started in the 90's we formed 'study groups'. Our members divided up into small teams and dove head first into a very specific subject matter. One group specialized in IRS issues. Another on Traffic Tickets, another on Land Patents, etc.
Through this focus, specialization and directed energy we developed our own 'in house experts' on a wide variety of subjects and were able to accomplish so much more than having everyone just 'show up' to a meeting and wait for the meeting leader say something profound. I think you get the point.
So here's what we're going to do differently this year.
Given: You're here for a reason. You know the vision and purpose of the law club. And you also know that based on that, being a spectator or cheerleader standing on the sidelines is 'NOT' an option.
Therefore, we should all have the expectation that each and every member belong to a study group and contribute to that group. You may not know anything about the subject matter and have no experience but only a curiosity and interest to know more. Perfect! This is how you will learn. Your participation in the study group will advance your knowledge and before you know it, you may very well be qualified to be called a 'quasi-expert'!

Please do NOT volunteer for more than 2 groups. In fact only 1 is recommended but if you really have the time and can contribute to 2, OK, go ahead. But don't over commit!

Here's how things will work;
1. I will no longer be doing monologues on the weekly conference calls. I'm done with that format. We need more involvement and interaction from the members. The calls will be designated to organize and hear from the various study groups and get reports on their findings and results and network with each other.
2. We won't have time every week to hear from each group, so we'll set up a schedule on a rotating basis and we'll know what that is in advance, provided you open and read the emails we send. (which isn't always a 'given')
3. As soon as we have a good level of participation, we'll resume the weekly conference calls and get started. If the majority of members prefer to stand on the sidelines and be cheerleaders, then I'll just scratch the weekly calls and spend my time in other areas which is sorely needed. There's so much to do. I don't know about you, but I'm going to be super productive this year and each minute of my time has tremendous value so it's incumbent upon me to spend it wisely and I'm sure you feel the same. So when or if we start up the weekly conference calls again is up to you and the rest of our members.
