Dear ACMS members and friends,
We are pleased to announce a new fellowship program offering for 2015-2016: the Mongolia Cultural Heritage Research Fellowship Program. This program is made possible by a grant from the Henry Luce Foundation (http://www.hluce.org/home.aspx )
The
2015-16 Mongolia Cultural Heritage Research Fellowship Program will
support up to four fellows (two long-term fellowships of up to 9 months,
and two short-term fellowships of 1-3 months) to carry out advanced
graduate or post-doctoral research on topics related to the preservation
of Mongolia's Cultural Heritage.
Fellowship awards will include
travel expenses to and from Mongolia, an allowance for accommodation
and food, and a stipend to cover research expenses. Awards will be
adjusted based on the length of time spent conducting research in the
region with a maximum award of $18,000 for long-term fellows, and a
maximum award of $5,000 for short-term fellows. Fellows will also have
the opportunity to take intensive Mongolian language courses, network
with other Mongolian and international scholars, and participate in
ACMS events and activities. The fellows will be expected to contribute
to the development of databases and collections of Mongolian cultural
heritage information together with the ACMS, the Smithsonian
Institution and Mongolian partner organizations. The goal will be to
make the research knowledge gathered by the fellows easily accessible
and searchable by interested parties in Mongolia and abroad.
All applicants should be advanced in graduate programs or graduated from a university in the US or Canada. The deadline for applications is April 30, 2015.
Please help spread the word, and visit mongoliacenter.org/fellowship for more details.
David, ACMS
