Dear Friends of Wilbur:
Rarely do I discuss politics in my articles in the Wilbur Newsletter. I typically leave my expression of politics for my radio program, Mind Body Health & Politics which broadcasts on National Public Radio affiliate KZYX in Mendocino County.
Here I shall make an exception because the #MeToo movement is so critically important.
This past week I interviewed Tamara Holder, the lawyer, author and national Fox news commentator who courageously blew the whistle on sexual harassment, and assault, at Fox news. As a result of her courageous act, she lost her job and has become ostracized in the world of media.
In this especially important interview, Tamara describes in detail, her emotionally painful experiences, subsequent to speaking truth to power. The entire interview is available on the archive for my web site, MindBodyHealthPolitics.org.
We who care for, and maintain, Wilbur Hot Springs Sanctuary for the Self, are proud of our record as an ultimately safe place where all people are treated with equal dignity and respect.
My deepest thanks to each and every one of you for co-creating the Wilbur Experience and contributing to our ultimately safe environment. Every single gentle, cooperative and friendly act adds to the emotional environment at Wilbur and is healing. |

Say hello the next time you are At Wilbur. We are
the tall couple with the smiling eyes and laughing hearts.
With affection for each of you,
Richard and Jolee, Caretakers, Wilbur Hot Springs 1972-present

Welcome Michael Wedgley and
Jen Maniaci
New to the family here at Wilbur are Jen Maniaci
and Michael Wedgley. Jen was the Onsite Retreat Coordinator for 2 years at
Mayacamas Ranch in Calistoga before the Tubbs fire completely devastated the
Ranch back in October. After we contacted the Ranch to see if we could provide
any assistance to their team, her and Michael came and interviewed for
positions. We enthusiastically invited Jen to be our new Assistant Manager, and
Michael to be our Administrative Coordinator.
Michael and Jen have found their place here over
the last month, and enjoy being off grid where they are avidly cooking and
fermenting food. You may see them out and about hunting for rocks, or just
soaking in the beautiful experiences of Wilbur’s nature and waters. |

Spring at the Springs!
Wow! It is heating up here at Wilbur. If
we didn’t know any better, we’d think it was already spring. The staff here are
enjoying the ability to walk around in t-shirts, and the guests are
starting to picnic around the property. The days are perfect and the nights are
optimal for soaking in the flumes. If I had to choose only one time of the year
to be at Wilbur, this would be it.
Soon we expect to see many of the beautiful and
edible mustard greens and flowers growing in the hills. Many of our guests can
be seen harvesting the wild greens. A little known fact is that mustard greens
are widely used in Saag Paneer - a wonderful Indian dish.
We invite you to come out and soak in the world’s
best waters during the season’s best weather here at Wilbur Hot Springs.
Forgot to bring your towel along?
No worries! Wilbur Hot
Springs now has towels available for purchase to ensure that you are taken care
of. The new towels are 100% cotton and available for $10 in the country store. |
