| Dear Friends of Wilbur:
Balneotherapy, Latin: balneum "bath", the practice of using natural mineral water for the treatment and cure of disease, is part of the traditional medicine of many cultures.
Every major hot spring in the U.S. has some record of use by the Native American Indians, some for over 10,000 years. These springs, known as neutral ground, were where warriors could travel, and rest, unmolested by other tribes. Here they would recuperate from battle just as we now recuperate from stress.
The waters now known as Wilbur Hot Springs were the healing and ceremonial grounds of the Yoche De Winton Nation. The Yoche De Tribe own, and operate, the extremely successful Cache Creek Casino, about 33 miles south of Wilbur Hot Springs, on highway 16.
Getting away from stresses to refresh and revitalize your body and your mind are the main reasons why people attend the natural hot springs which are becoming an increasingly important part of American life. The "medicine water miracle", how some refer to Wilbur Hot Springs, provides you with a necessary interlude to change your pace of life and your very way of being.
Many hot springs aficionados consider Wilbur Hot Springs mineral rich waters, including a super saturated solution of antibacterial sulfur, mood stabilizing Lithium, and natural laxative Magnesium, to be the most medicinal natural geothermal waters on the planet.
In addition to immersing in its world renown medicinal waters here are 22 additional reasons people love to experience Wilbur Hot Springs
1- to eliminate or reduce stress, 2- to heal physically and emotionally, 3- to prevent future illness 4- to rediscover balance 5- to journey on a vision quest 6- to contemplate in Prescription Grade Solitude (PGS) and reassess your goals 7- to absorb prescription grade nature (RxN) in Wilbur's Nature Preserve and recharge vitality. 8- to be with one's loss 9- to meet your future life partner (Wilbur's Caretaker, 1972-present, Dr Richard Miller, met his wife Jolee, at Wilbur, during a Guest Chef Weekend on his 72nd birthday) 10- to stretch your body and mind 11- to receive a memorable massagE 12- to sit, hike, bike, jog and run in RxN 13- to provide an opportunity for habit change: eating, smoking, drinking 14- to watch and listen to nature in the raw, stars, bats, coyotes, deer, and more 15- to cook and dine communally or alone. 16- to experience community at Wilbur. 17- to get off the grid. Wilbur is not connected to PG&E and generates all its electricity 18- to read and write 19- to practice prescription grade relaxation (RxR) 20- to watch the Fountain of Life Geyser and sit in its medicinal waters. 21- to have a unique romantic experience. 22- to give your Self something uniquely special and rewarding. |
| Perhaps you visit Wilbur for additional reasons. Please write and tell us about them. And, say hello the next time you are At Wilbur. We are
the tall couple with the smiling eyes and laughing hearts.
With affection for each of you,
Richard and Jolee, Caretakers, Wilbur Hot Springs 1972-present

| | Taking Some of Wilbur Home with You… There are now two ways to bring home a bit of Wilbur Hot
Springs to renew your mind, body, and spirit: Wilbur’s Medicinal Bath Crystals
and Sagrada Mineral Mist.
Wilbur’s organic bath crystals are formed from mineral waters
that erupt from deep within the earth. Their source is the Fountain of Life Geyser
located in the nature preserve adjacent to Wilbur Hot Springs. The crystals take
about 4 months to form in a solar drying process right here in the 1800-acre
nature preserve of Wilbur Hot Springs.
They are high in Chloride, Sodium, Potassium, Sulfate,
Boron, Silica, Magnesium, Lithium, Calcium, Flourine, Iron, Copper, Manganese,
Cadmium, and Zinc. A perfect combination to nurture, calm and heal.
The minerals in these bath crystals are absorbed through the
skin, providing gentle exfoliation and soothing sore muscles to restore a sense
of wellbeing. Your skin will feel smooth and supple and your body will feel
rejuvenated.
Sagrada Mineral Mist has been created by long time
‘Wilburian’ and Healing Artisan, Megan and presents a marriage of Olive leaves
and Wilbur mineral crystals. Olive
leaves have been used for over 5,000 years to address skin issues. They are
harvested in their prime from certified organic dry-farmed olive trees in the
Capay Valley of California. The olive leaves are then steam distilled in
traditional Portuguese copper alembics. Little wildflower petals and reeds from
the mineral salt crystal collection process gently dot the salts and bring
their energetic qualities to the harmonizing Olive Leaf Mineral Mist. Use it
liberally to mineralize, as a relaxing body mist, facial toner and healing
deodorizer.
Take the time to slow down, relax, and soak in a bit of
Wilbur…
or both the Wilbur bath crystals and the Sagrada Mineral
Mist in person at the Wilbur Hot Springs Country Store! |
