There are several interesting online wind-related workshops and seminars in the near future.

Roundtable on 2020 Midwest Derecho

  • Organized by THWARTS and AAWE

  • Thursday April 29th from 11-12:30PM Eastern Time


The topic of the discussion is the 2020 Midwest Derecho with an emphasis on the vulnerability of metal grain bins. The moderator is Dr. Murray Morrison, Insurance Institute for Business & Home Safety.  Panelists include Dr. Richard Wood, University of Nebraska – Lincoln; Dr. Christine Wittich, University of Nebraska – Lincoln; Dr. Frank Lombardo, University of Illinois – Urbana Champaign; and Dr. J. Arn Womble, Insurance Institute for Business & Home Safety.

NHERI Workshop on Boundary Layer Wind Tunnel Simulation of Transient and Non‐synoptic Wind Events

This one-day user workshop will present the transient and non-synoptic flow simulation capabilities of the boundary layer wind tunnel at the University of Florida NSF NHERI Experimental Facility. Invited speakers will present active research and through multiple group discussions seek to develop consensus key science questions that physical simulation facilities may play a role in addressing. Attendees will help define performance benchmarks to initiate research proposals that utilize the University of Florida NHERI Experimental Facility.
