I used to think that confidence came from my looks or things I can do and achieve. So of course, being aware of all the things I can’t do and my physical deficiencies, I always feel a lack of confidence.
I learned that it isn’t about our merits or works. It is about the state of our heart. What is the focus of our heart? Do we know who we are and who we serve? This knowledge transcends and liberates my soul because it means we don’t need to answer to anyone else but God.
When I remember who I am, that I am a beloved daughter of God, then I am filled with His love. His love makes me feel powerful and secure. I don't need to doubt myself. I know that as long as I do my best according to God's instructions, He will still love and accept me. This gives me so much confidence.
I don't have to be looking around for validation and acceptance from others to be confident in myself. The wondrous thing is people, of their own accord, are inspired to confirm to me that I am doing a good job because I've been helpful to them. People, of their own free will, encourages me on my journey by sharing with me their success stories inspired by what little I've been able to do for them. God sends us witnesses to inspire us to continue onwards.
I encourage you, my soul sisters, to get your confidence in this same way. It is truly transcending and liberating.
