Subject: Let’s Wrap Up the Year with Thanks

   THE BUSINESS of GOVERNANCE

   Newsletter No 104 | December 2024

Hello Friend,

What a year it has been!

We have grappled with economic and other challenges. As some people say, “We thank God that we do not look like the problems we have to overcome.” God, in his infinite mercy, has given us the strength to wade through these difficulties, and we are still here.

A few days ago, we held a virtual Executive Council meeting because I had been travelling. One of the key takeaways is that we are reviewing the scope of work on the ongoing reconstruction of the Adegbayi Junction—Bus Terminal—Iwo Road Interchange along the Ibadan—Ife Expressway. One of the amendments we have made is improving the Iwo Road roundabout to accommodate the consistently high traffic volume on that axis.

We also approved a free medical mission across all the 33 local government areas of the State. We want as many people as we can touch their lives to enter 2025 in good health.

Governor Seyi Makinde and His Son, Tayo

I have one more newsletter to send for this year on Boxing Day, which will be my recap newsletter. Before that, I will hold a media chat on 21 December 2024. So, let me use this newsletter to offer thanks.

I want to thank everyone who has contributed to making this year a pleasant one for me and for our dear State. I will always start by thanking God for life. Without Him, I would not even be here to serve. As I always say, I have no godfather, but I have God the Father.

Let me also thank my dear wife and children for their support this year. A lot of times, work and politics took me away from them. I want to say that I do not take their support for granted. Let me also mention my inner team; we argued and fought sometimes, but in the end, we are still together, and that is something to be thankful for.

I also extend thanks to the good people of Oyo State, who have continued to stand by our administration and support our programmes and policies. You are the reason we are here, and we will continue to ensure that we put you first in our decisions.

And to you, Friend, for being here, reading this, and perhaps following my newsletter throughout 2024, I say thank you. I wish you and your family a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year in advance.

Talk to you again soon.
