Paul was created to bring people into intimacy with God, which is why his writings deal with both Jew and Gentile. He was trying to break off anything that would hold them back and instead, bring them into the fullness of what Christ did for them—what Christ has for them. And we are about to see the fulness of this released in our lifetime. We will know God through and through. There will not be any part of us that we will try to hide from him because we know He knows it all, and you know what? He loves it all! He hates the sin, but He loves the people and He sent His Son to cover the sins that He might have relationship with the people. It is the depth of knowing that will allow us to face anything for Him. Anything! And we will do so with an impartation of faith and understanding of the power of the living God that dwells within us. There will be no fear of rejection, because we are standing for the King! Our fight will come forth from our spirit-man and it will be fierce!

I liken it to the parent who storms the school office because somebody has said something about their child. They are in that principal’s office bringing forth the truth, fighting with all they are for their child, for their child’s rights because they cannot fight for themselves. It’s that thing that rises from deep within the heart of a parent that enables us to come between people who are trying to fight against our child. There is no fear!

I remember one time when Karen and I were picking my son up from his music lesson. The music studio was across the street from the high school. As we pulled into the parking lot, we saw a huge crowd of kids from the high school that had gathered there. Through this crowd, we saw two kids in the middle of everyone and it was clear they had all gathered for a fight. Something rose up in us because we knew this was unfair and we could sense something very bad was about to happen. It was a fierceness to do what was right and fight for those two young boys! I slowly drove my truck right into the middle of that circle of kids and we got out and yelled, “What is going on here?” Something just rose up in us to defend those who could not defend themselves. And you know what? When we did, two other cars came in and stood their ground to stand in the gap for these kids!

God does the same thing for us and He’s going to do the same thing within us in the days ahead! He will compel His children forward, to fight for our God, to fight for truth, to stand against injustices, to fight for those who cannot fight for themselves! If someone starts speaking deception and drawing someone that is weak into the deception, we are going to stand in the gap and say, “I do not think so, you are not coming against this child of God!” We will aggressively get in the middle of a battle to fight for those who cannot fight for themselves! Why? Because we represent the King! That is the new breed of believers coming forth and when that struggling person sees you stand in the gap, putting yourself in the way to protect them, I am telling you they will follow hard after God because someone took a stand for them!

We avoid, right? We just avoid. We are a society of avoiders! We avoid conflict because we are “Christians.” We use politically correct phrases because we don’t want to offend, right? That is going to come to an end, my friend. It MUST! When it is something that is against the Word of God, He will call us to stand at attention! He will demand that we stand for righteousness! Standing for righteousness does not mean to run and hide. If we and those other drivers had not intervened in the midst of that fight, there is no telling what that bigger kid would have done to the smaller kid! He had already gotten in a few good swings and there is no telling what this mob would have done in the end. When will we learn we must stand for those who cannot stand for themselves?

Karen and I could have had all of those high-schoolers in the parking lot jump on us! At the time, it did not even cross our minds. I’ll bet there were 50 or 60 kids out there—high schoolers! You do not think that we were shaking like crazy when we got back in the car after that fight broke up? We were trembling. But it was not about our flesh in that moment. It was about stepping in for someone else who needed it.

God is demanding that we take a stand for righteousness. We must stand for righteousness! If you see someone struggling, reach out aggressively and pull them out of the deception, because you are not fighting for their relationship with you, you are fighting for their souls and in the end, you will save the relationship! But the soul, their soul, is what God is hungering for and should that not be what we hunger for as well?
