I really want to encourage you so badly: You can trust Him. It may be the greatest lesson we ever learned on this earth but once it’s learned, life changes—everything in life changes. We can trust Him. No one that we know, no one that we could ever hope to know, has done so much for us as the Son of God and if He was willing to give His very life for us, there is not anything that He is going to deny us that will be for our best. 

He is so wonderful. He is so wonderful to think about. He is so wonderful to nestle up close to. He is so wonderful to serve. He is just so wonderful. What are His thoughts and His feelings? They are wonderful. What are His ways? They are wonderful. What is His temperament? Wonderful. He is all things good and all things wonderful. 

Does he discipline? The Bible promises us that He does, but His discipline is not out of anger. We are His children, so when He disciplines us it is out of love. He wants to teach us His ways. He wants to help us find safety and assuredness, trust, and faith by learning His and resting in His ways. He is wonderful. He is our wonderful Father. He is our wonderful Counselor. He is the wonderful Prince of Peace. 

I want to go one step further: “Love the Lord your God with all of your heart, all of your soul, all of your mind, and all of your strength.” Is there anything missing? You have to know Him, maybe a little bit better, to realize that although it is not set in this passage, it is implied very strongly and that is, if we want to love Him in this way, we must also love truth in this way. Now some people will say, “I love truth, I love truth, I love truth!” And yet the things that come out of their mouths, the things that they show out of their hearts and in their actions, show that they love anything but truth. 

Truth, in general, is quite different than the human soul, the human mind, and the human heart. Truth aligns with everything that the Bible shows us in Christ. In fact, I can remember a time when He appeared to me; I may have shared this in the past. He was standing in front of me and truth was flowing through Him, every part of His being, the Word of God flowing through every part of His being. Not memorized scripture, but the Living Word. Remember, He was the Word made flesh, the Word flowing through Him, every part of His being and He was standing there, about 500 pounds fat and I could not help it, I really could not help it—I started laughing. I started giggling and I said, “Lord You are so fat! I am sorry, but You are so fat! You are so fat, Lord!” and He smiled. I must have said that five or six times because I was overwhelmed with His obesity, but He was 500 pounds fat with truth! He is Truth and all truth is found in Him! 

The Word is truth. Truth is manifest in the Word and in Christ. If we love Him the way the Bible tells us to love Him, we have to love truth because that is who and what He is. He is Truth that convicts us of anything that is not truth in our lives, in our hearts, and in our minds. Why does He convict us? To show us that we are bad? No! To get our attention that there is a better way. 

I can remember one year, driving from Fresno, California up to Oregon, where I was going to spend a two-month retreat for prayer. My little navigational system wanted me to go one way to get to my destination and I wanted to go another way because I wanted to be on Highway 1. I knew that it would take me longer to get to where I wanted to go but I wanted to see the ocean, so I wanted to stay on Highway 1 and the system kept telling me to turn right. I didn’t turn right, so the next street I could turn right on, the system would say, “Turn right, here.” So that happened about four or five times. The fifth time it was so funny, the system said, “There really is a better way,” and I started laughing. 

You know, we have a spiritual being inside of us and it is the Holy Spirit. When He convicts of us of wrong thinking or wrong feeling, wrong emotion, wrongdoing, it is because He is saying, “There really is a better way,” and the better way will be the happier way for us! 

Begin to pray that Father God is not only going to shed His love abroad in our hearts, but that He will shed abroad in us His love for truth and then teach us His truth, live His truth in and through us. And if you will do that and yield to the truth that it gives you, you will find that your walk with God will abound in gladness and in glory and He will multiply His authority upon your life for intercession. 

I know that this is a rather short talk, but I hope that what I have given you can be a blessing in the coming days. Do not worry, do not be afraid. The Bible says that we have never seen the righteous forsaken, and we have not; we never will. God cannot do that; it is not in Him to forsake those who He loves. He will make a way where there is no way if we will just pray. He will be the Father above and the Friend beside us through the difficulties and He will bring us out into a large place. So be free to be at rest in the Lord, your best Friend.
