Path to Union: Fear of the Lord
Part A

8.26.21
The Lord wants a deep and abiding relationship with us more than we could ever want it with Him. I say this even if we feel we want it with Him more than anything else in life. Although we will certainly have it in Heaven, He would also like to give it to us while here on earth. His desire for us will always be greater than we can desire Him as a created being. He is the Majesty, therefore the Greater, and we are the lesser. His call is ever sent forth from His very bosom. Draw near to Me, and I will draw near to you!
There is a place in God that is so beautiful and holy. It is ever reserved to be our home here or in Heaven. You do not know how wonderful this future home is until you touch that place for the first time. Maybe you have long thought that there could be no more wonderful a place than to stand in the presence of God, experiencing the touch of God. This place is beautiful. His love is compelling. However, something about Him can distract your mind and heart. It can be distracting if your heart is not following hard after Him. If your heart is following hard after Him, although you do not know where you are going, His Word promises that He leads the blind in a way that we know not. We all are blind about the life of the Spirit until He can open our eyes.
There is a way He reveals Himself that we cannot put into words. Upon learning that we were in a moment of intimacy with our Lord, someone might say: “Well, what did you feel? What did you think?” You ponder the thoughts: “What earthly language is there that will help me to help anyone understand what I just experienced?” He is not other earthly; He is otherworldly. He is heavenly! However, He is more than Heavenly. Heaven is in Him; He is Heaven. In Heaven, you can see, feel and engage him anywhere at any time. At least, this is what I have experienced. These abounding revelations, experiences, and travels from one side of God’s world to another to fully understand Him are eternal. Therefore, you can live eternally and never find the end of God. If your personality makes it challenging to be repetitious, you do not have to worry about that with God. I have ministered for over 40 years. I have never had two services alike, not because I desired it to be so, but because God has so many ideas He wants to initiate. He is amazing. If you follow Him, you can have 1000s of different experiences and never grow bored.
I want to encourage you that you would hunger to know Him above all. He is everything. Please turn in your Bibles to Isaiah 33:5
The Lord is exalted; for He dwelleth on high: He hath filled Zion with judgment and righteousness.
This word righteousness speaks of “piety” of the heart. You must do your part to yearn for righteousness and obey His precepts. However, He is the One that has to impart His piety into your heart. Anything less is just more soul and flesh. You hunger for righteousness and His purity, His piety. Pray that He will fill you with these virtues. When He gives you directives, obey them. When this transmission occurs, He imparts something of Himself into you making your heart of greater piety or purity. This impartation happens so He can take you for these lovely walks and impart Himself to you.
6And wisdom and knowledge shall be the stability of thy times, and strength of salvation: the fear of the Lord is his treasure.
It is hard for me not to weep when I read the Scriptures. I love this passage. I love it not only for the promise of wisdom and knowledge but also for the promise of the; “Fear of the Lord.”
I was very young in the Lord when He introduced me to the Fear of the Lord. It changed my life. The changes that it provoked still cycle through my soul every day. Everything He says to do, do and desire; everything He desires of you, engage your will to give Him. It is not that I do not sometimes have to fight the enemy. Satan loves the mind; that is his playground. Sometimes I have to fight that, but every vital part of me rests in Him, not the things of the soul. When I allow myself to continue in that rest, I find that the thing that secures every step is the Fear of the Lord.
To be continued next week…
