Listen to me please. On this side of the veil is the world and all that it is—all the evil, all the ugliness, all of the darkness. On the other side of the veil is the glory, His holiness.
Jesus did not walk in this lie, the lie that says, “There is something I need beyond God to have life.” He never walked under that deception because He walked in union with the Father always. So when He said to His disciples, “Satan is the father of the lie,” He knew exactly what He meant and He was trying to tell his listeners, There is something beyond this life and you are veiled from it. There is a lie that covers your senses, a lie that covers your spiritual being, a lie that keeps you from knowing the Father the way you were created to know Him, and the one who keeps that veil intact is the father of it, the father of lies—Satan.
My dear brothers and sisters, I do not know about you—I do not want to spend the rest of my life shrouded by the veil that lies to me about my Father. When Jesus said, “Hallowed be Thy Name,” He was looking at that veil straight in the face. Hallowed be Thy Name. Holy are You in the earth. Hallowed be Thy Name. Holy are You in the earth. Looking at the veil face to face, seeing it for what it is. None other will take His place! Hallowed are You, Father, in the earth! His Church does not know, does not understand the glory of living in that hallowed Name. There must be a maturing desire. There must be a maturing stability that has to grow in your soul for you to come to this passion.
Listen to me. The fire is burning in my heart right now. Jesus did not only know the truth; He lived in the passion of that truth. He lived in the passion to bring the Father to the people and to bring that people to the Father. He lived in the passion to reveal the truth about God to a people that were blind. He lived in the passion to speak the truth to a people that were deaf. He lived in the passion to seal the veil broken and the Holy of Holies exposed so that the world could once again see the beauty of the glory, the grandeur, the splendor of the Living God. He lived to die! He lived to die in order to break the power of that veil so that you might see the truth, so that I might see the truth. It is not enough to be saved. It is not enough until we get on the other side of the veil and we can see the Living God the way He really is—in all of His beauty and all of His glory, in His power and in the wealth of His Kingdom!
But there is one that stands there at the door and he tries desperately to keep the seekers out. That is why the Bible says that your passion must be violent against the one who tries to keep you from seeing the truth. There must be a Divine violence in your will to obtain the high glory of the Father, to walk with the Son. There just be something inside of you that says, I do not want the way it has been any more. I did not get saved to keep on living like the world. I got saved to know the Father and to walk in the life of the Son.
Exodus 19:16 has the most incredible tale. The third morning there were thunders and lightenings and a very loud trumpet blast so all the peoples in the camp trembled. When was the last time you trembled because a person played a trumpet? Can we assume that the trumpet blasts they were hearing were not coming from the temporal, but they were given the golden opportunity to hear heavens trumpet?
The circle of angels atop that mountain were blowing the trumpet—the shofar, heaven’s shofar, alerting the congregation that something new was taking place. Something was about to happen that had never happened before. God was about ready to break through to the veil for a multitude of people in a way He had never done before. It was His will to reserve it for that day and those people. He was about to do something that would change the world, so the angels sounded the shofar—so much so that the people trembled. So much so that the very mountain trembled.
Then Moses brought the people from the temple camp to meet God—what an awesome thing for the Bible to say! And they stood at the foot of the mountain. Mount Sinai was wrapped in smoke, for the Lord descended upon it with fire.
Imagine you are at the foot of Mount Sinai and God is descending. When has anything like this ever happened before? No, not in the creation. Not in the history of all mankind has anything ever happened before. God is descending to reveal Himself to a people and the people are trembling. The mountain is shaking. All of creation is in high alert. I will tell you when people do not recognize the Lord Jesus, it is said that even the rocks will cry out. What everybody was saying was not a Hebraism. Jesus was saying this is just creation—even the very rocks cry out in praise at the glory of God. The planets bowed to His majesty. The stars would sing His songs to His splendor and glory. The birds sang their songs; the beasts of the field are all aware of the Holy One. All of creation was in high alert because their Creator was doing something He had never done before.
Mount Sinai was wrapped in the smoke, for the Lord descended upon it in fire. The smoke ascended like that of a furnace and the whole mountain quaked greatly. Can you imagine you would just stand there feeling like you needed to write a Psalm? “Oh mountain why would you shake at the presence of the Lord?” Except that you’re shaking so badly that you do not know which is shaking the worst—the mountain or you!
“As the trumpet blast grew louder and louder…" Moses was really trying to make a point here. It started out so loud; everyone was trembling and it got louder and louder. Moses spoke and God answered Him with a voice.
What do you think you would do today? We are all standing around the circumference of this building and all of a sudden, the roof is on fire and there is a trumpet blasting so loud that the whole city hears it. The building begins to shake. You are trembling at the blast of the trumpet and I say to you, “Come! Let us meet God!” And with everything I am already saying, then He descends in fire and out of that fire is a voice that makes the very inside of you tremble and shake so you can hardly stand on your feet when it sounds.
Nothing like this had ever happened before. Have I ever said anything like this before? I must really mean it. Moses spoke. “Moses spoke and God answered Him…” I just love this. What a novel idea! But when God answered Him, everyone was standing in terror. The Lord called him up to the top of Mount Sinai and the Lord called out to Moses and Moses went up.
To be continued…
