12 Pillars of God
“Love”
Session 2

Transcription of New Orleans Teaching
1 Corinthians 13: 1 "IF I [can] speak in the tongues of men and [even] of angels, but have not love (that reasoning, intentional, spiritual devotion such as is inspired by God's love for and in us), I am only a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal."
For years, I asked the Lord to tell me what the twelve most important pillars of our faith are. We can look through the Bible and find all kinds of pillars, twenty to twenty-five, maybe more. These pillars are pillars of strength that need to be in the heart of man. So, I wanted to know what He considers the twelve most important pillars for the believer. I waited for years for His answer.
Then, while we were in Fremont for a Gathering, He answered. We always have our Fremont Gatherings at the same church, and the pastor asks me to speak the Sunday after each Gathering. This particular Sunday, I rose early to find out what He would have me share and as I approached His throne He said: I am now going to give you the Twelve Pillars of the Kingdom. I couldn’t get my pen and paper out fast enough before the visions started coming!
Times are going to get harder than they’ve been because God loves you, and He wants you to be strong; unfettered, unbothered and not at all troubled by the things you hear, the things you see, and the things you endure.
I can remember many years ago—I had a powerful experience. I was in a house by a small private lake, and tornadoes were approaching the house. One after another—it seemed to be about a dozen just one right after another, came and began to circle the lake like they were following a wagon train. It scared me so bad I went running and hid under the bed. I peeked out from under the bed—I grew up in Michigan, and my parents taught us that when a tornado comes, hide under the bed. The thought of standing up to rebuke it never occurred to me - then. I would peek out and see the tornadoes still circling the lake. I felt terrified that they were going to attack the house, my only shelter. Suddenly, I saw two old men that looked about eighty-five years old. They were sitting in rocking chairs on their porch; watching the tornadoes circle the lake. I thought to myself; are those guys crazy, why aren’t they under a bed? Aren’t they afraid? Finally, the tornadoes left. When it was over, I went out to the men and said, “I don’t understand you, you don’t even look like you’re the least bit afraid. You just sat there in those rocking chairs watching the tornadoes.” The one man said, “Ain't nothing, that kind of thing happens around here all the time. But you know, God watched over us. So, He doesn’t want us to be afraid; He never created fear, that's something the devil did." And the experience ended.
He loves you so much! He doesn’t want you to be afraid, but what do you do, oh, fearful heart? I know you don't want to be afraid, but you're human, you have a fallen nature, and you’re still learning that God is ever faithful.
Pillars—we need the twelve pillars inside our hearts. When we have them, we will not be afraid because the winds are coming. We know they’re coming, but God has called you to be an overcomer. He has not called you to run in fear no matter what you're parents taught you when you were a child.
Pillar number five is Love. Some of these pillars—it’s hard to ascertain which one would be the most significant, they are all incredibly important. When it’s all over, and I find myself before the throne of God, I don’t want to see the picture of my life as a clanging symbol because I didn’t choose love. I want Him to look at my life. I’m not asking for His sympathy, nor am I asking for His pity. He has planned my life—if I trip over a few things because my heart wasn’t right, then I endure the consequences because He is just. What I look for is the grace to choose love.
1 Corinthians 13: 1 "If I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love [for others growing out of God’s love for me], then I have become only a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal [just an annoying distraction]. 2 And if I have the gift of prophecy [and speak a new message from God to the people], and understand all mysteries, and [possess] all knowledge; and if I have all [sufficient] faith so that I can remove mountains, but do not have love [reaching out to others], I am nothing. 3 If I give all my possessions to feed the poor, and if I surrender my body to be burned, but do not have love, it does me no good at all."
Those are wonderful words coming from a man like Paul. Here is a man who stood before the throne of God and said: I will give my life, not only my life but I will be separated from you for eternity for the sake of my brethren—the Jews. You might think that isn’t the way he wrote it, but that is what was happening. Here is a man who endured stoning, shipwrecks, beatings, whippings and scorching for the sake of the Gospel. How many of us have looked at his life and thought: wow what a man this Paul was? I have been taken to Heaven to meet and talk to him.
Paul was an awesome man—small in stature. I don’t think he was probably more than 5’4, maybe 5’6. He was small in stature, but he was huge in nobility. He said; I would be eternally separated from you for the sake of my brethren the Jews. How much more love can a person enter into? I have been in this position; I have been before the throne where my intercession was of that nature. The spirit of judgment stood before the Lord, between me and the Lord over three people and I knew that if I could not stop the spirit of judgment from being released from His throne, it would have to pass through me first.
Now, I know that wouldn’t fit with a lot of theology, but there are a lot of things that goes on in heaven that might surprise you. God, wants us to be spiritual beings and learn and understand Kingdom truths. I can tell you that when you’re before the throne, interceding in that way, with an intercession of that nature; what you pray, you pray knowing it could be received exactly the way you pray it. Paul was not being flippant; He was not trying to manipulate God. What he said, he meant, and he meant it with all of his heart. Paul could mean it because he walked in the level of love required. Paul has a right to write this passage because he lived it.
Verse 3; "If I give all my possessions to feed the poor, and if I surrender my body to be burned, but do not have love, it does me no good at all.
Look at what you can do and not be mature in Christ. What determines your maturity in Christ? Is it how many visions you see? Is it how many people you lead to the Lord? Is it how many battles you endure? Is it how many friends or enemies you have? None of these things make that determination. Is it how many prophetic words you get, how many dreams you get or how many people get healed when you pray for them? No! In fact, none of this determines your level of spirituality.
There is only one thing that can determine where you are spiritually, and that is the level of divine love you walk in. Not how much you’re loved, but how much you love. Not how much people give to you but how much you give to others. You are a mature son of God when you have learned to walk the way Christ walked. Until then, we are growing and learning and thank God He gives us a lifetime to do so! Amen?
To be continued next week....
In His Amazing Love,
