Our family's best wishes to you as 2025 gets underway! We wrapped-up our 2024 season on 12/31 with a terrific encounter with the T99 and T75B families of Bigg's orcas (photos above by Janine Harles). The days leading up to that included sightings of humpbacks, the T137 family of Bigg's orcas, as well as Gray Whale "Little Patch" CRC-53. Little Patch is one of our "Sounder" gray whales that come into area to feed during their annual migration. We're excited to see them so early.

3-Day San Juan Islands Audubon Birdwatching Cruise

Join PSE and the Olympic Peninsula Audubon Society April 7-9 for an amazing three-day birdwatching and wildlife cruise in the San Juan Islands. Days will be spent viewing wildlife onboard the MV Glacier Spirit. We will spend our nights on San Juan Island at historic Roche Harbor Resort. The San Juan Islands are famous worldwide as National Geographic’s #3 World Travel Destination, and our tour will connect you with the best of the San Juan Island experience. This is an amazing birding experience.

"We spent 3 days cruising the San Juan Islands looking at seabirds, whales, and wildlife. It was a wonderful time. The crew made sure we were well fed and well-cared for. The captain was professional and very safety-conscious. We had a professional bird guide to help us with sea birds. A wonderful trip all around." - Richard

Before we go...

We want to let you know about 2 private tours in Canada that professional wildlife photographer and Puget Sound Express naturalist Bart Rulon is leading in May. These tours to the Discovery Islands in British Columbia are operated and led by Bart, and his focus is photographing bald eagles, black bears, pacific white-sided dolphins, brown bears (coastal grizzly), humpback whales, and killer whales. The wildlife photography opportunities in this remote part of Canada are truly remarkable and the scenery is breathtaking. Photographers of all skill levels, and spouses/non-photographers are welcome.

2025 dates are May 19-23, and May 26-30. Gourmet meals and lodging are included at a host lodge with a beautiful view of daily bald eagle feeding frenzies! All the photography happens from the comfort and safety of boats and you also have the option of trying some salmon fishing if you wish. Tours are limited to 8 people. For more information or to reserve your spot, please contact Bart directly at bartrulon@gmail.com or (360) 678-3882.
