On April 19 we had the good fortune of spending time with our first humpback of 2024! We spotted BCX1460 “Black Pearl” with a new calf. This whale normally favors NE Vancouver Island and is less-commonly seen in our neck of the woods. We also have word that "Big Mama" - the humpback that started the "humpback comeback" in the Salish Sea years ago, is also in the area. (photo by Wendi Robinson) | | 2024 Main Whale Watching Season Begins April 26 | It's here - our main whale watching season starts Friday, April 26! See orcas, humpbacks, gray whales, minke whales and all of the amazing wildlife in the Salish Sea. This is our 39th year on the water and we can't wait to share it with you. As always, we guarantee you'll see whales or your next trip is free.
Daily Tours (And stay tuned - our Port Angeles Half-Day tours start on May 11). | | What Have We Been Seeing? | In addition to our first humpback sighting, we've been seeing plenty of orcas and gray whales. One of our favorite Bigg's orca families - the T65As - is back in the region, and we expect them to stick around for much of the summer. (photo by Janine Harles) | | There are now 13 gray whales in the area, and we were excited to recently have our first encounter with CRC-2362 "Thidwick." (photo by Bart Rulon) | | We also have been seeing the T99 and T18 families of Bigg's orcas recently - and on one day they came together for hunting, frolicking and socializing. |
