Subject: Park project stars in national TV show

The official opening took place on 31st October with the programme’s presenter Leah van Niekerk cutting the ribbon in front of a full camera crew recording the occasion for the Christmas Day edition of KykNet’s Help n’ Dorp broadcast.

Revive Knysna’s new Waterfront project is now complete.

Sponsored by Lottoland’s Help n’ Dorp programme (a community-focused initiative that aims to benefit small towns across South Africa) a piece of waste ground on the corner of Waterfront Drive & Queen Street, has been transformed into a miniature park.

Called the Waterfront Pocket Park, the area has been landscaped with a lawn, flowerbeds, path, park bench & lighting.

Lottoland’s financial contribution paid for the solar lamps, bollards, surveillance camera, waste bin & a park bench, complete with a plaque in honour of the late Schalk van der Merwe of Remax. Blue Waters Construction help with all the installations.

The new park has uplifted this previously neglected area & now provides a pleasant seating area & a convenient pedestrian shortcut to Queen Street.

Park Designer, Aimee of Inside Out Design, said it best:

"This park truly represents the coming together of our community. It also promotes urban safety, sustainability, but most importantly, community pride."

A special shoutout to our contributors:

Inside Out Design Studio, Blue Waters Construction, Topsaw, Remax (for organising and manning the launch braai), Hydrojet, Battery Centre, Forest Fresh Mushroom Farm, All Sound, Tigger, Coastal Hire, our local Fire Department, Ivy Gardens, Knysna Hollow, Prop 1 and TCS.

The dedicated Revive Knysna volunteers, our amazing Team and, of course, Lottoland for choosing us as recipients of this incredible donation.

Special thanks to Chris van der Merwe & the late Schalk van der Merwe for reaching out to Lottoland on Knysna's behalf
