Over the years, when I’ve gotten stuck or empty of ideas, or I’m just wanting to go to a higher level…

I’ve found that the ”ignition” to my higher creativity has always been the same.

1. Get close with God in a place where you’re free of distraction and ready to listen.

2. Escape to that place in the world that always forces you to dream bigger… with the people or person that makes you want to be more.

For me… the place where I tend to connect with God the most is outside in the hustle of the early morning.

Or in the calm of a clear starry night.

There’s a strange quiet for me in watching all of God’s creation wake up.

The rustling of the leaves in the morning breeze.

The birds singing and gathering.

The creatures all waking and running about.

So much activity, but it quiets my mind and helps me focus on all He’s created that surrounds me at every moment.

Then there’s the quiet of night, when it’s super dark and everything has gone to bed…

And all I can see is the vastness of all He’s done.

It’s incredible and amazing and peaks my curiosity to know how much more He’s done that I can’t see.

And how much more I can do, if I stay curious and keep wanting more of Him.

That’s where I start.

And then, when I’ve had those moments… I escape!

I escape to those places that God has put into my heart that always produce a reaching for higher greatness in me.

The places that just being in make me want to grow.

The places that seem to push the igniter on my dream factory.

For me, it’s always one place… the beach.

Whether it be the beautiful, soft and sandy shores of Lake Michigan, or the ocean…

It’s always been the beach that seems to squeeze my heart into life again.

And the person that’s always there with me… making me want to believe more.

Become more.

And be more.

Is my wife.

So this weekend, when she caught me outside in the quiet of the early morning, she knew…

We’ve gotta get to our place.

And less an hour later we were gone.

With just a quick day bag and our cute little dog, Cooper…

We raced off to a bustling, little (but world known) beach town that always seems to bring us what we need.

We had a great drive.

We had the most delicious plate of vegetarian nachos that we’ve ever eaten (or maybe food just tastes better in your dream zone).

We walked the town and enjoyed the people, the music, the dogs everywhere, and what seemed to be endless life happening all around us.

We stepped into the white sand dune beaches, and breathed in the magic of that Lake Michigan air.

Even Cooper seemed to feel it as he raced along the shore with the biggest dog smile I’ve ever seen.

The only smile I’ve seen bigger doing the same thing was that if my son when he was young.

Racing along the shore with his huge smile, and usually a skim board.

The people, the waves, the sand, the sounds, the smells, the clean air, the life…

It’s a magic dream producing elixir for me.

I can explain it.

It’s just “my” place.

We finished off the night with one of the tastiest pizzas I’ve ever been blessed enough to gobble up.

And that says a lot, because pizza being one of my favorite foods… has been eaten in nearly every stop of my life’s journey.

Roasted tomatoes and peppers and full garlic cloves.

Spinach and artichoke hearts and just the smallest bit of feta on top of an olive oil crust…

Set my tastebuds on fire.

It was so good.

Dreamy maybe is the right word.

Which makes sense because my dream factory was in full motion at this point.

The drive home was filled with a quiet excitement.

The gazillion little dream centers bouncing around in me keeping what should have been a tired body fully awake.

I’m refreshed this morning.

Fully awake.

Fully alive.

Fully reborn again with new dreams.

Bigger expectations.

A more impactful future just ahead.

2. Escape to the place that ignites your dreams with the people or person that is the rocket fuel for you.
