Subject: You're an expert. Tell us about it.

Don't be shy

There's something I noticed recently that kind of bothers me. I don't know why it should, because I have nothing to do with it.

Several online creators I follow have notices on their blog, podcast, emails, etc. that "I don't have a degree in such-and-such field" or "I am not an expert in such-and-such field, but ..."

Perhaps I notice it more than I did before. It's kinda like when you purchase a new car. All of the sudden you see more cars like the one you just bought on the road.

Are there that many more of "your cars" on the road, or are you simply noticing more of them? I'm going with the latter, as a lot of the science suggests.

Either way, I want to hear from people who are interesting. I don't care if they have a degree. Sure, some background would be nice, but certainly not necessary.

According to American Heritage Dictionary, an "expert" is "a person with a high degree of skill in or knowledge of a certain subject."

I turn to experts. Sadly, many of "our people" don't consider themselves experts. I'm not sure why.

This needs to change.

So, I thought I'd do something about it.

I made a quick resource guide: "5 Factors That Help Define an 'Expert'"

I think it can help.

As always,

Brian
