I never got to see Hank Aaron play, but I was a big Braves fan growing up and he resonated through that franchise forever. I read all I could about him. He may be my favorite all-time baseball player.
755 — his former record for home runs — was and is an iconic number.
Aaron said, "In playing ball, or in life, a person occasionally gets the opportunity to do something great. When that time comes, only two things matter: being prepared to seize the moment and having the courage to take your best swing."
Over the last few years, I've had a lot of opportunities to do great things. Problem is or was that I was rarely if ever prepared to seize the moment when it came.
So, I've been thinking a lot about what Hank Aaron had to say lately. I'm still not "ready" for things to happen, but I was prepared this time. I also had the courage to take my best swing. I'll get in the cage with a hitting coach later.
All this being said, as part of a challenge in my Inner Sphere group, I ended up starting a magazine. It now has a name, The Los Gatos Review, and the digital version is for sale. We're going to be a quarterly publication and come out with a new issue every season.
Frankly, even though I wasn't ready to add "magazine publisher" to my list of things, I did it anyway. The first issue is what we call a Trial Issue as it is much smaller in scope than what we are planning for the Fall 2024 issue.
For a flavor of what we're offering:
Click any of the pictures and it will bring you to the sales page. Our cover price is $47 and we plan to deliver that value to you over and over.
However, for this trial issue, the digital version is available for as little as $6. You get to choose how much to pay. Such a deal.
As always,
Brian
