Subject: When in doubt throw it out

It gives me a touch of anxiety at first...

One of the problems shopping at Costco tends to be the amount of leftover "stuff" that accumulates.

We go through all the coffee we buy, but things like paprika and garlic powder...not so much. It is easier (and perhaps cheaper) to buy a giant container of spices than it is to go to the local market and buy the amount needed (also usually way more than is necessary).

Thus, my composter is now filled with a tapestry of dried herbs and spices. If I told you it smelled "nice," that would be a lie.

However, I could, with a reasonable degree of certainty, predict that our rodent problem will be quashed for a few days or perhaps a few weeks thanks to the copious amounts of powdered alliums now in the bin.

Vampires will likely not be an issue either.

Many canned goods are now excised from the pantry.

All good stuff.

Now, I'm not a particularly sentimental fellow, but I do save a lot of things. Some say too much.

I say I just don't have the space. Either way, we did a good cleansing around here over the last few days.

I got to shred a bunch of papers, something my younger children also enjoy, so that was fun.

Confetti.

Dan Kennedy, in No B.S. Time Management for Entrepreneurs, says, "At least once a year, usually in December, I conduct a violent purge of my correspondence files, client records, desk drawers, etc., and through out as much of it as I dare. In all these years, I've had that come back to haunt me only a couple of times."

I'm in my 6th or 7th re-read of this Kennedy book. Dan is growing on me.

Good book. Check it out.

As always,

Brian
