We can't control what others say and what others do.
There are no time machines. We cannot control the past.
Mistakes that we made are always going to be there as a part of history. Same with the mistakes of others.
We cannot control our environment. We can't control the politics around us. either.—one vote only does so much.
We can't control what others think. Frankly, we can't control much of anything.
Sounds pointless, perhaps. Lives can even spin out of control.
Why do most of us still toil amidst this mortal coil each day, knowing that we can't control things?
Well, there are indeed things you can control. Some people call it a secret. But if it is a secret, it's pretty easy to figure out.
What, then, can we do? What can we control?
In sports, we often talk about "controlling the controllables." It's a good lesson for life.
Control your attitude. Control your effort. Those are about all the things you have control over.
We can get more granular, but it all stems from attitude and effort. For instance, we also can choose:
Our words and our actions.
Our routine and our choices.
What we consume—whether it is food, reading material, or what's on television.
How we treat ourself.
Our preparation and mindset.
The right body language, because it screams!
To establish our own priorities and evaluate how we are doing.
To pray or not.
The best athletes never control the situation but, instead, are the ones who best respond to the situation at hand. They control their attitude and effort.
Same thing with the winners in life. We're looking for those people to be part of our team.
As always,
Brian
