Subject: The 3 important things in life

according to national championship basketball coach Jim Valvano

"I always have to think about what’s important in life. To me, it’s three things: where you started, where you are, and where you’re going to be. Those are the three things that I try and do every day."

–Jim Valvano

I was asked the other day to give a brief summary of who I am and what I do.

"I am a longtime sports enthusiast and coach who uses lessons from champions and championship organizations to transform businesses and lives."

Pretty simple.

A few ideas that can help in sports and life:

Recognize what you desire in life. Constructively ordered, these should be your priorities. If you are unsure about your life's priorities, it's time to get to figuring.

Then comes the hard work. For most people, you will probably have to give up who you are to become who you can be.

Walk away from things that move you further from who or where you want to be. Keep in mind, what others think of you is none of your business. It's a curiosity—one that will distract you and keep you from the future you desire.

Free yourself from the expectations of others.

Finally, don't waste your life suffering for something that was never worth suffering for. There may be a little more hard work ahead to figure out if that applies. It usually does.

Our latest e-book, Passion to Profits, can help you figure out what might be the best path if you want a "side hustle" in your life.

Pay as much or as little as you'd like. But get it for free if you don't want to pay.

As always,

Brian
