Subject: Do you read?

I am not here to insult you

Do you read?

I find this one of the most hostile and most insulting questions out there.

The answer is usually "yes." Most adults in the western world are at least semi-literate. If they are not, they usually become defensive and don't answer.

It applies to negotiation and life is an endless string of negotiations.

Yes is bad. Maybe is worse.

On the other hand, No is good. It gives us a place to start.

Maybe try such questions, instead:

  • What are you reading these days?

  • How do you like reading—paper or digital?

  • What kind of things are you studying?

Reading is important, but studying is crucial if you want to get places. Frankly, I started studying hard once I got out of school. People tend to think that's strange when I say I've been studying x or y.

The way I read—or study—it often takes me way longer to get through a book than I'd like, because I am taking notes and going off on tangents, studying something that came up in the text. So on and so forth…

But, I guess it is a lot cooler to passively read books?

After all, sometimes a book is just a book, just like Must See TV was there purely for your entertainment. No need to take notes unless you were a TV critic.

Do things your own way. What other people think of you is actually none of your business. Don't feel bad if you aren't the one to follow trends.

I realize I may be preaching to the choir, but I'll try to paraphrase the words of one of my mentors: "Sometimes the choir needs preaching to as well. They're not just out back smoking cigarettes during the sermon…"

With the Jim Camp Master Negotiator Series you can study to your heart's content. Always learning. There are 9 mp3 modules over the course of 7+ hours with PDF transcripts for all of it.

I've gone through the program at least 10 times and find myself studying little pieces of Camp's training here and there with the written PDFs as great resources.

Michael Senoff interviewed the late Jim Camp, once known as the world's most feared negotiator, for countless hours and ultimately condensed the training into over 420 minutes of audio gold. If you're an audiophile, fair warning, it's not always satellite radio quality audio, but the messaging is on point, and the mp3s are inherently much sturdier than those magnetic tapes you may have used to "archive" radio shows back in the day.

Senoff sells the training on his website for $597. Through midnight Pacific on Saturday, you only pay $177 for the entire training if you buy it using this link…

It's virtually impossible to find any Jim Camp training out there for free these days. He was indeed that good at what he taught.

The catch to the great price is that there are no refunds on Michael's end. But if you're not satisfied with the program, take it up with me and we can negotiate an equitable solution.

As always,

Brian
