Subject: Daily affirmations can only go so far

How about adding something extra for the holidays?

For the most part, "affirmations" are silly, modernist, new-age junk.

People pushing "Daily Affirmations" and such believe that human beings can do anything they "set their mind to." This is only true to a degree.

There is a piece missing, and that is prayer.

And in all things whatsoever you shall ask in prayer, believing, you shall receive.

The Gospel According to Saint Matthew, 21:22

Contra heathens: Prayer is not magic. It is not rubbing a genie's bottle. Prayer is not a spell—something where you say the correct words for the correct amount of time and your wish is granted.

Ask God for help if you need it (or want it). Guaranteed you can't do it on your own.

Nevertheless, in today's secular world, positive self-talk can be beneficial in changing or maintaining a growth-focused mindset. Beneficial, but also not entirely fulfilling.

But, knowing that we're in the midst of the Christmas season until January 5th, it may become a bit easier for your positive self-talk to be prayerful.

Try something like this out for size:

I am relaxed throughout the busyness of the holiday season.

Christmas is a busy time for me, but I maintain peace and enjoy it. Relaxation and positive energy define my life.

When challenges and obstacles appear, I allow them to roll right off my back.

Each day throughout the "holiday season," I remind myself of the importance to stay in control of my emotions. A positive outlook carries me through the most challenging times.

I choose to surround myself with people who are happy and peaceful, just as I can imagine the peace that Joseph and Mary had at their child's Nativity, even as they dealt with some otherwise uncomfortable circumstances.

Through being around peaceful people, I am much more at peace.

To counteract the stress of being busy during the holidays, I take time for myself. I spend time breathing slowly and relaxing, and I feel better and ready to face anything the day brings me.

I know I am strong and capable. I do anything I need to do, and I do it with good cheer. If I get stuck, I'll ask God for help.

The holidays are a wonderful time for family and friends. I enjoy them, because I keep a calm perspective. By taking my time and enjoying life, I accomplish more and feel better about it.

I can share my tranquility and peace with others, so they can have a more joyous holiday season as well.

Today, I remain relaxed and happy despite the "busyness" of the holidays.

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. Amen.

Self-Reflection Questions:

  • What actions can I take to become more relaxed when things are busy?

  • What are some ways I can appreciate the holidays without getting stressed out?

  • What are the best techniques to use to remain positive when things get hectic?

As always,

Brian

P.P.S.  –  We released our latest e-book a couple days ago, just in time to close out the year. It is called Passion to Profit: Turning your passion into a profitable side hustle.

We set it up where you can even name your own price. Get it for free if you so choose.

We have a suggested retail price of $17.99 and a suggested minimum price of $8, but you can also get it for nuthin'.

Fair warning: lots of people collect free e-books. Most people never read their free e-books or at least don't take what is inside all too seriously. Thus, most of the consumers of free e-books never act on any of the information in the library of material they have sitting on their computer, smartphone, or Kindle.

I've seen it a hundred times.

Don't be one of those slackers. When you pay for information, you're much more likely to use it—or at the very least, consider it.

Now, there is also a free bonus offer at the end of the book that can only be redeemed with a receipt if you buy the e-book for at least the minimum purchase price of $8. It happens to be a "hot and sweet" deal.
