Listening to Jim Rome pays off

One of the things that comes up a lot in my line of work is productivity and time management.

How can we become more productive? How can I manage my time better?

Easy answer is that it is a process. There's no magic to it.

In a recent podcast, longtime radio host Jim Rome—who has now added several podcasts to his radio content empire—says you need a "mission" and must take "daily action."

This was good to hear, as I have a folder on my computer entitled "Daily Action" where I collect some of my notes and choose to act on one of those things—daily. Just one. More than that can be overwhelming.

Furthermore, Romey asks us to consider "What is our why?" Drawing from that, ask the question, "Why you?"

Get clarity on those things and you might have it licked. Maybe not, though. It is a process after all.

If you don't know where to start, Rome has a simple three-step process that he says got him to where he is today—at or near the top of the mountain of sports-talk radio. Three questions to ask yourself:

  • Who am I?

  • Where do I want to be?

  • How am I going to get there?

Then go to work figuring out the answers to all these questions. The greater the detail the better.

If you need a little more prodding than what "Van Smack" gives us, a while back, we put together a few resources about Time Management for our folks. Our page is at:

As always,
