I told you that you need to "run hot"...
that you need to melt any resistance your prospective customer might have.
In my consulting practice, I got people's attention with a "$10 quickie" reading.
Could you do that in your business?
I called it a "$10 quickie" partly for fun, but partly because I couldn't do a full reading that cheaply.
I would typically get $75 an hour for a reading.
That would require 30 to 60 minutes.
So to in order to reduce the price so steeply, I cut the time to 7-minutes.
So basically, for the 10 bucks, people who didn't know me could ask a question, get a "quickie" reading, and have the opportunity to "test me" out.
This way they could see if they wanted to schedule a full session in the future.
Now, here's the critical point.
Once you've given people a great offer to get them into your business (for me, it was the "quickie")...
How do you deliver the knock-out punch?
How do you close the deal?
How do you convince people to "upgrade" their relationship with you.
How do you get them to buy your course, become a client, request your services?
I wanted people to upgrade from the intro "quickie" to a full reading, and then to becoming a regular client.
What stages does your business put prospects through?
And, how do you close the deal?
I did it the only way you can.
I gave the greatest value possible.
I didn't try to "sell" anybody on coming back.
I didn't try to "convince" them I was good at what I do.
I just gabe them a great intro session, and I always over-delivered.
That might mean that I spent some extra time with them, and I often did.
But most of all, I really gave them all of myself.
I really cared about them, and that always shines through.
People know when you really care about them.
As an intuitive I could, of course, "wow" them with the "how did you know that?" stuff that always impresses people.
But I also took great pains to make sure they knew that they were masters of their own destiny.
I would never give them directions like "you must do this" or "never do that."
I simply offered them some options as I saw them, and then challenged them to make their own decision.
I not only impressed my "intro clients"... but I won their respect for being honest and trustworthy, as well.
That's not easy to do in the intuitive consulting business, because there are so many scam artists in the profession.
But it's also not easy to do in internet marketing, for the same reason.
There's absolutely no substitute, though, for showing people you care, delivering the highest value you can, then over deliver it.
Finally, be totally focused on helping people.
If you do this, your business will grow.
If you focus on profits, you'll have a rough go of it, no matter what "deals" you put together for folks.
Now... I'd like you to think about how I built my consulting practice.
How can you use these same principles and practices in building your online business, or you blog?
I'd love to hear what you come up with.

PS: Here's the previous 2 messages...
#1 ==> "Everybody's got ten bucks," I said...
I'm not sure who all knows my background.
I've had (and still have) a professional practice as an "intuitive consultant" for many years.
Over time, I moved my practice from a brick and mortar village shop/office, to a 100% telephone and Skype service.
Many of my clients have been consulting with me for years.
Some make appointments with me once or twice a year, but most of them consult with me at least once a month.
Here's a bit about my back story though, and the lesson it has for your online business.
"Everybody has ten bucks."
That was how I first developed my practice.
You see, I had nothing in those days.
I was going to school to earn a degree in social work.
Things in life changed drastically for me, and I had to quit school and figure out how to support myself and my daughter.
I had been doing psychic readings for some time, at people's houses, at parties, etc.
I decided I could start a regular practice doing it.
I rented a little shop in a quaint little village and called it "Mind Over Matter."
But how could I get people to walk through the door?
I didn't have money to advertise.
So I made a crude A-frame sign and wrote this on it...
$10 Quickie Readings...
That was it.
My thinking was this.
I was getting $75/hour for my private consults.
But nobody knew me, nobody trusted me and I just needed to build relationships with folks (I had just moved to this village so I didn't know anybody, yet).
Nobody was going to give me $75.
But everybody has bucks... right?
At least, that was my thinking.
And, maybe people thought "readings" meant weirdo freaky stuff, so I wanted to lighten the mood.
So I thought the "$10 Quickie" readings were fun and affordable.
What do you think of this as a marketing strategy?
How about your online business model?
Do you lead with something affordable to get people warmed up to you?
Do you make it fun and inviting for them?
I'll continue this tomorrow, but right now I'm about to begin a Periscope session.
I'll have to send you to some of those on day.
But not today.
If you're a regular visitor to my blog, you saw that I got a concussion last week clipping branches in my yard.
So I'm still working with a bit of a "lag" of some sort.
So, I'm cutting this short for today, and will continue at this point tomorrow.
Until then, think how my offline practice relates to your online business. Talk soon,

#2 ==> heat melts
So, here's what works.
Heat.
Here's what does NOT work.
Cold, or even tepid.
When you bring new people into your business, as I did in my new intuitive practice, they are looking for reasons to leave.
They're just waiting to be convinced they wasted their time and money.
Why?
That's what they expect.
People usually expect to be disappointed.
They'd like to be pleasantly surprised.
They'd love it.
But they don't expect to like what you're about to deliver to them.
PS: If you're getting in on this in the middle, then you may have missed yesterday's email.
I guess I'll paste it below so you can catch up on it.
So, if you're lost, scroll below and read yesterday's message.
Back to today.
What I knew, is the same thing you have to know about your online business.
People are looking for heat.
If you're hot... passionate about what you do, excited to give people far more than they expected...
If you're hot, then you will melt all resistance.
If you're cold, or seem to be more interested in yourself than in your clients;
You will lose them.
If you're tepid... like you'd like to help them, but you've really got other things to do so they'd better hurry up...
You will lose them.
I generated heat, and my business took off really fast.
I really like people.
I really like helping people.
It's a passion of mine.
I've been doing it all my life in different ways.
So, this was not an act.
If it was, I would have come across as tepid.
People can just sense it.
You can't fake it.
By the time the reading ended, a client would either be laughing, crying, or maybe both.
I would have struck a cord somewhere inside of them.
That's what I do.
I reach inside, light up something that they've been oblivious to, or out of touch with.
It has a profound effect on them.
My intuitive consulting practice is still very much alive and well and profitable to this very day.
Even though I've turned most of my attention to blogging and internet marketing, I still love doing readings, but I've cut back on them.
There's only so much I can do.
I love helping people build their online business and blog, so I'm still in the helping business.
But I've taken it in a new direction.
And I love it.
Do you love your online business?
Do you really strive to help your customers and clients?
Do you run hot?
Do you know what you need to do to run hot?
Tomorrow, I'll show you exactly what it takes to turn up the heat on your online business and melt all resistance.
Talk soon,
Donna
