Subject: Groundhogs and Donna's LL Bean Boots

Here is another story
I would love to share
with you.

No, we are not going
to talk about business
again, but choices and
adaptation.

As you must know by now,
I am a city gal.

Born and raised in
Brooklyn, New York.

I don’t have much
experience when it
comes to living in a
forest, but I made
the CHOICE to move
to Maine a couple of
years back.

Now I live smack dab
in the middle of a
forest.

Like a smurf.

It is absolutely amazing
and I am adapting to it.

I made a CHOICE to
purchase a home with
a huge gated yard for
my dogs.

We humans don’t use
the yard much.

We tend to the grass
and pick up the leaves
and dog poop.

That’s about it besides
an occasionally burning
some fallen branches in
the fire pit.

Lately, we noticed black
dirt raised from the ground.

They were pretty big mounds.

Hmmmm

what could that be?

What else does one do
when they are in a
conundrum?

Google it!

As I did.

A mole?

No, the mounds are too big.

A hedge hog maybe.

Whatever this creature is,
I sure never saw anything
like this.

I kept my eye on the dogs
and it didn’t seem to
bother them.

Figures.

They're not from Brooklyn.

Once in a while Giuseppi,
our blue tick hound from
Tennessee, sniffs and
points to it.

But doesn’t bother him.

So good old Google
mentioned we should
keep stepping on the
raised ground to
flatten it.

We did, but noticed
that more and more
raised mounds popped
up in their place.

BAD CHOICE!

As long as this creature
isn’t a threat to my dogs and vice versa…
why not just share the
yard?

You know.

Cars are supposed
to share the road
with bikers.

So why shouldn't
we share my yard
with hedge hogs
(or whatever).

So we made the CHOICE
to share.

Now I’m fascinated and
look out the window
often to see if the
creature from deep below
will pop up out of the ground
so I can see what the heck it is.

(Like I would know).

Maybe one day we can
become friends.

That’s all for now
my friends.

Just keeping you up
to date on the
many ways that life
doesn't just happen
to us.

It happens in response
to the choices we make.

This is not about
business, but, you
know what?

I think it really is.

What do you think?

and by the way…

I found the perfect outfit
to wear outside
in the yard.

LL Bean has an array
of matching brown boots
and canvas outerwear.

(not a commercial)

Hey, I’m adapting.

I only have heels, lol.

Talk soon,

Donna
